Intervista a Dirt Crew

Biografia:
CML: Hello! How are you?
D.C: Great Thx.. working hard
CML: You are two famous djs, one dutch and the other German. How do you meet?
D.C: We met in a club in Berlin. Peter was here for the Red Bull Music Academy and Felix already lived here for some years.
CML: And how was born this duo?
D.C: We knew each other quite a while till we decided to produce a track together. I think the first track we did was “Check this out”.
CML: Your sound is a mix of style, called “dirty- house”. Can you explain us what it is?
D.C: We like to play more than one style. But this dirty sexy feeling has to be in the tracks always.
CML: What do you think about the german music reality? It’s so important as all think?
D.C: We have some of the most talented producers here. But there are many other countries that have very good artists too. UK, Italy or Spain. Also in Berlin there is not only a minimal scene. It’s quite diverse.
CML: What about the community of artists in Berlin at the moment?
D.C: We like it. More and more DJs and clubbers move to Berlin cause it’s so cheap and exciting at the moment. I think it’s good for every ones creativity!
CML: Between famous djs and famous producers, which do you prefer?
D.C: Both would be great.
CML: When did you decide to create your labels?
D.C: 2004 , Because we thought there are so many cool people we know who make great music and we wanted to release our own music like we want
So not to have to deal with other labels.
CML: You have 2 labels: Dirt Crew and, the youngest, Players Paradise. What are the different between one and the other?
D.C: Dirt Crew is the main label. More dancefloor orientated. Players Paradise is more of a playground for us. From minimal, disco to house. Everything is allowed.
CML: Are there any new artists from your labelS which you would like to talk about?
D.C: On Players we have a very talented guy from Bristol called Lukas. We just signed Motor Mouth. A new promosing project from DJ Friction and one part of Kris Menace.
CML: How do you find time for everything with your label, production work and djing?
D.C: Good point. Full time job!
CML: “Raw” is your fist album. Why do you wait for 3 years before produce this album?
D.C: We were very busy with touring and our remix works. We still have a lot of work with the labels. Also with the new Mp3 thing. It never stops!
Finally in may we decided to slow down our DJ gigs and then we produced the album in 6 weeks.
CML: Why in the past did you prefer remixes or play only single?
D.C: It was just a coincidence that we got so many requests for remixes. Now we have more time to make own tracks.
CML: What do you’d like to say to a young dj and producer who is now starting?
D.C: Be ready for a long hard way to the top…start with own productions early!
CML: And what about the phenomen of software instrumentation? Do you prefer play with vynils or not?
D.C: We switched to CD. Only for special gigs we bring our old vinyl collection! We are open to all new forms for DJing.
CML: Do you think that this euphoria for minimal it’s only passenger or do you think that is the present and the future?
D.C: Hard to say. We would prefer more warmth in many sets we hear. If you have only minimal DJs in a club you hear the same beat for hours.
CML: In your opinion it’s important the role played by internet clubbing sites?
D.C: Yes , it’s the most important thing nowadays. It grows cause so many people get used to do everything from home on their computer. And it’s faster then print media. Check our myspace and become friends

CML: Internet it’s a good way to advertising?
D.C: For sure, we do it more and more.
CML: What do you think about ClubMusicLovers.com?
D.C: It’s a great site if you speak Italian. Hehe
CML: Thanks for your time guys!
D.C: Thx for your support. C u soon at a club near you! 13 oct Ð Dirt Crew DJ @ Metropolis (Napoli), 24 nov Ð Dirt Crew @ Mosquito (Valeggio sul Mincio).
